This was my first carnival with Brockenhurst Gateway as leader. It was well supported and the weather stayed fine. Our theme was Best of British – Red, White and Blue. People dressed as sports people, the Queen, spice girls, bankers and many more. It was a lovely fun day and to top it all we won the big Brock and Bruin carnival cup. I am looking forward to next year already.
On August Bank Holiday Monday 2011 Brockenhurst Gateway Club entered the Brockenhurst Carnival parade dressed as characters from ‘Dad’s Army’.
Captain Mainwaring, Sergeant Wilson, Corporal Jones, Jack Walker and poor old Pike were all there, along with some lovely Land Girls and the odd spy!
Everyone made their own costumes and got into role play of their characters. Brockenhurst Club’s Dad’s Army entry won a well-deserved 3rd prize.
